Manipulate Your Type…it Creates Interest!

For this project, I explored the art of Typography to create a monogram by manipulating the letters to form together in a themed, cohesive manner.

First, I created a monogram. For my monogram, I chose my initials: KB. I wanted to style to appear like a rock band logo that could be seen on the front of a bass drum in a drum set. Thus, I kept the letters close to the original shape and placed them in front of a complimentary circle.

Then, I created a square size design using Twenty One Pilot’s lyrics, “Welcome back to Trench” from their song “Overcompensate.” I themed the design based on their album “Trench” and manipulated the type by creating a wave and distortion affect.
